The new Serpentine Pavilion designed by Ai Weiwei and architects, Herzog & de Meuron, unveiled yesterday at The Serpentine Gallery in London’s Hyde Park.
The pavilion is the twelfth in the Serpentine’s history. This year’s design is presented as part of the London 2012 Festival and takes inspiration from previous installations. Dug into the ground of the gallery’s front lawn, a cork-clad interior houses 12 columns which in turn support a floating platform roof that collects water above the ground.
